DP-5B Field dosimeter – dose rate meter designed to measure the level of gamma radiation and radioactive contamination of objects. It also has the ability to detect beta radiation.
DP-5B consists of a measuring console and a detection unit connected by a cable. The detection unit contains gas-discharge counters SBM-20 and SI3BG, a control source and a rotary screen fixed in three positions: – for measuring gamma radiation, in which the counter is covered by the screen; – to measure beta radiation, in which the counter is open; – to control the operability of the device, in which a control source is installed opposite the counter. The measuring console contains electronic devices for pulse processing, registration and power supply circuits. On the front panel there is an illuminated pointer indicating device, a subrange switch and two buttons. Powered by three KB-1 batteries. In addition, the device can be powered from a DC source or batteries of other voltages, for which the device has a voltage divider.
