Marseille is a multicultural port city in the south of France in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. It is the second largest city in France after Paris and it is located at the Mediterranean sea. It has the biggest commercial port in France. It is not only the oldest city in France but one of the oldest in western Europe. The city was founded in around 600 BC (initially called Massalia) and became an important port in the ancient Greek world.
