Uxmal considered one of the most important archaeological sites of Maya culture, along with Palenque, Chichen Itza, and Calakmul in Mexico, Caracol and Xunantunich in Belize, and Tikal in Guatemala. The accepted median height of the Pyramid of the Magician is 35 metres (115 feet), with the base measuring approximately 69 by 49 metres (227 by 162 feet). Despite the absence of an exact measurement, the pyramid remains the tallest structure at Uxmal.

Entrance fees:

Adults: $494 pesos for foreigners and $225 pesos for Mexican nationals. Children under 13 years: free. Federal and state admission charges apply and there are concessions for students, children, seniors and legal foreign residents (you need to show your residency card).

Construction of the first pyramid temple began in the 6th century AD and the structure was expanded over the next 400 years. The pyramid fell into disrepair after 1000 A.D. and was thereafter looted during the Spanish Conquest of Yucatán.
