San Rafael Waterfall, located at the confluence of the Quihos and Salado rivers,
is surrounded by a crowded landscape of tropical vegetation. San Rafael Waterfall is the highest in Ecuador with its height of 160 meters (520 feet) and a width of 14 meters (45 feet). The waterfall is located in a special natural zone at the foot of the active volcano Reventador, on the border of the provinces of Napo and Sukumbios on the road from Quito to Nueva Loja, 25 km from the city of Tena and about 61 km from Baeza.
